Why does the air compressor keep shutting off

Why does the air compressor keep shutting off

Some of the most common issues that could be causing your compressor to shut off include the following:

1. Thermal relay is activated.

When the motor current is seriously overloaded, the thermal relay will heat up and burn out due to a short circuit, causing the control circuit to turn off and realize motor overload protection.

2. Malfunction of the unloading valve.

When the air flow rate changes, the intake valve control system is used to adjust the opening degree of the valve according to the air flow rate, thereby controlling whether or not air is allowed in the compressor. If a malfunction occurs to the valve, it will also cause the air compressor to shut off.

3. Power failure.

Power failure is one of the most common causes of air compressor shut off.

4. High exhaust temperature.

Excessively high exhaust temperature of a screw air compressor is usually caused by excessive temperature of the oil and water coolers, and may also be caused by a faulty sensor and other reasons. Some alarms can be cleared immediately through controller page operation, but sometimes the Excessive Exhaust Gas Temperature alarm appears after clearing. At this time, in addition to checking the circulating water, we also need to check the lubricating oil. The viscosity of the lubricating oil is too high, the amount of oil is too large, or the machine head is coked, which may cause the air compressor to fail.

5. The resistance of the machine head is too high.

Overloading the air compressor can also cause the air switch to trip. An air compressor overload is usually caused by excessive resistance in the air compressor head, which causes the air compressor's starting current to become too high, causing the air circuit breaker to trip.
